Fermentation Technology for Neomycin Sulfate
1. Introduction
Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic produced by bacterium Streptomyces fradiae. Similar to other amino glycosides, neomycin has excellent activity against Gram-negative bacteria and a broad spectrum against the bacteria. It is found in many topical medications such as creams, ointments, and eye drops, but now people always use it as animal medicine.
2. Technology
Fermentation at flask, 120-140hrs, producing Neomycin 12000~15000u/ml
Fermentation at fermentor, 160-250hrs, producing Neomycin 16000~25000u/ml
Recovery yield ≥ 85%
Product quality: meet the requirements of CP2005, BP2000 and USP 28.
