Comparing with using AD, very expensive itself, as raw material at abroad in 9α-OH-AD production, using phytosterol as raw material will reduce the produce cost to a great extent.

This technology uses phytosterol to produce 9α-OH-AD by biotransformation method through only one step. 

Adding amount of phytosterol as substrate: 2.5% (25g/L)

Final titre (output of 9α-OH-AD): ≥7g/L

Fermentation time: 5 days

There is no need to add vegetable oil or emulgator simplifying the purification process.
