Halquinol Synthesis Technology

1. Introduction

Halquinol is an important chlorinated derivative of 8-hydroxyquinoline. It is an animal antimalarial used as a feed additive for poultry and as a pig growth promotant. 

a) With the unique non-specific chelating effect, Halquinol can be combined with main metal ions, so that bacterial cannot use necessary metal ions, so as to inhibit the growth and reproduction of bacteria;

b) As a broad-spectrum antibiotic, Halquinol can inhibit the DNA synthesis of bacterial, so it is also effective to the drug-resistant bacteria of sulfonamides, nitrofurans, chloramphenicol, etc.; 

c) Halquinol can interfere with the synthesis of mold cell wall, so as to inhibit the growth and reproduction of mold.
